Many people who suffer from the disease suffer from hurtful biases, judgement, rejection and also an overwhelming sense of shame. Most of the time they are misunderstood. They also find it difficult to achieve a high quality of life because of the effects of their illness.
Surviving Schizophrenia: A Personal History seeks to shed light on the effects of how the illness impacts it sufferers by giving a firsthand account of its effects on the author. In this story, the author highlights key aspects of her life living with schizophrenia and some of the lessons that she has learned about herself and others along the way.
