THE ARTIST
Robert Leiserowitz (1927–2018) devoted his life to the mastery of the gelatin silver print, pursuing an ever-ascending standard that produced a body of work defined by formal clarity, tonal richness, and technical rigor. A lifelong advocate of the West Coast aesthetic, he worked exclusively in black and white, utilizing natural light and custom-mixed developers to achieve prints he described as “beautiful, quiet, and well-balanced.”
