The Ground Floor. Foundational. The Beginning. Been there from the start.

Or… in the trenches. Long way to the top.

You work in the mail room? Isn’t that lower than the Ground Floor?

All these phrases and thoughts have been running through my head as I have been planning out this devotional for the season of Advent. Other phrases like, “What was I thinking?” also seem to come to the forefront of the brain.

In the end, the idea that the God of the universe changed addresses and took residence in a manger is grace filled theology at its very core. God, from the beginning of creation, and from the beginning of the birth of God in the flesh has always been found on the ground floor.

Ground Floor Grace tells us that God has been getting God’s hands dirty from the very beginning. God is creating and molding us, and God is finding us in the muck and grime we call life and is infusing us with Grace.
