With an immense desire to wander, I capture photographs that are too good to be left behind. Seeking balance, line, and ever present objects such as the “Monobloc” chair. I’m inclined to seek new places, only bringing back the images and by extension memories I made there.
While I was in Taiwan my main focus was on the massive amount of industry in the city of Kaohsiung. Home to the largest port and industrial area in the country, I wanted to showcase the raw materials, and land these sites use and the emissions they create. Typically I was capturing these images from the air. However many of the areas surrounding these industrial zones I photographed from the ground. This viewpoint best captures the human perspective that is missing from aerial photography. The quiet nature and emptiness of these photos allows time to see the overgrowth, and the beauty in the mundane. These are the images that make up this book.
