Dongsong is located in Cheorwon, the northernmost county of Gangwon-do province at the centre of the Korean peninsula. The coldest place in South Korea (from experience, temperatures can reach -32 degrees celsius in winter), Cheorwon is the only divided area in the world, where peace and war coexist with a well-preserved DMZ, a scar of the Korean War, and war-related historic sites.



This book is a pictorial record of my first 6 months in Dongsong as a guest english teacher. Whilst most of the images are from Dongsong and the surrounding area, I've selected a few shots from trips made to Seoul, a 2 hour bus journey from Dongsong.



The images are quite diverse, reflecting my Korean experience thus far - my students, the townsfolk and the natural surroundings which make up my daily life.
