This book combines the accounts of the kings over Israel into a single narrative for each ruler. It covers the time period when Israel was a united nation all the way through Judah being sent into captivity. Overlaying the accounts recorded in the books of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles, allows us to see a full record of each king. Understanding the time of the kings helps to better grasp the warnings of the prophets and setting the stage for the coming Messiah.
