I use photography to reveal observations of the unusual. I aim always to present the viewer with an incomplete explanation - a leaving of multi-level space, allowing for personal interpretation and conclusion. My main areas of interest lie in an image's moment of capture: to record the effects of light, colour and juxtapositions and textures which show decay-through age, weather and use plus intentional or accidental marks-the results of human activity or natural intervention. Such marks can be tantalisingly provocative and incongruous in their lack of explanation.The unrepeatable moment a photograph captures immediately becomes historical and potentially a contribution to an archive. Not surprisingly, I collect photographs, found objects and writings that convey a sense of lost narrative. items acquired for their 'lostness' become precious; are grouped into collections,perhaps sketched, photographed or incorporated into a piece of artwork-to become part of a personal archive.
