Acerca del libro
The photographs in this project are made using various chance processes. The elements of time, place, color, motion and direction which are determined by chance are each equally likely to be recorded by the camera. The results of these chance processes are random, but only in the sense of lacking predictability, not lacking cause or creative engagement. Through art, the potential of chance materials, such as the twenty-one dots on a die, can work synergetically to produce vast visual expanses, trajectories through space and time, and the elimination of boredom and indecisiveness.
All the images in Game 3 were made in South Korea on a weekend in November, 2009. The game was started in Uljin, and we drove south, with the ocean on our left until we ended in Upo Neup, the largest swamp in Korea.
