Acerca del libro
A photo book about a different side of the University of British Columbia's' Campus. Not a high glossy advertising brochure but photos of a satisfying artistic scenery.
Many of the older buildings were built in the 1970's and are part of the Brutalist Architecture Movement, not always appealing to the eye but rather to embody functionality. Concrete was the main building material - and that has a special aesthetic appeal.
Captured in black and white the photographs emphasize an atmospheric emptiness. Giving space and putting things into a reductive perspective allows the viewer to focus on shapes, surfaces and the often overlooked beauty of urban environments.
Simply through artistic presentation.
