This book has been produced as part of Music for Hope’s 25th anniversary festivities, celebrating the work and achievements of Music for Hope, a project that originated in 1996 as a solidarity collaboration between UK cultural activists and the Salvadorian community of Nueva Esperanza, offering music tuition to young people, emerging from the struggles and trauma of El Salvador’s twelve-year civil war.

Through the images of photographer Kevin Hayes, and interviews by Tony Luna of students, teachers, and activists, you get a sense of the development of the project and why it has come to mean so much to those who became engaged with its work.
Together, these images and words capture the essence, spirit and resilience of Music for Hope, inviting a new generation participants and supporters to become involved in securing its future for the next generation of young people.
