In 2014 Nicaragua held a ceremony to launch to the start of project launching the start of a project to build shipping canal across the country. While it was promoted as a means to build the economy and lift the country out of poverty, it would displace up to 125,000 people in over 100 communities and countless family farms located along the proposed route. From 2014 to 2018 Steve Molnar made several trips to document the lives of the people living the path of the proposed canal. Many of these photographs are from rarely visted areas of Nicaragua.
