Reflection photographs refer to any image that uses a reflective surface to look at a scene, object, or subject in a different way. Reflection photos can be used to add depth and interest. Great reflection photos have a special unique ability to pull the viewer into the image. There is something interesting and often beautiful in these images that keeps you coming back for more. Reflections are often all-inspiring in photography because they capture our imagination. Reflections can be a powerful element in our photos that creates an alternative perception or experience for the viewer. By incorporating reflections into images it is possible to take ordinary subjects and transform them into something that is surreal, inspiring, and unique. Beautiful reflections can literally exist almost anywhere and when they don’t exist naturally there are techniques and equipment/objects that you can use to create them.

This is the first in a series of books that the authors are writing to show the creative possibilities for incorporating reflections into your own photography. The authors discuss and demonstrate concepts, techniques, and tips for shooting great reflection photographs. The first volume focuses on reflections of the natural world (lake, fjord, pond, red rock, alpine, ocean, coastal reflection) and abstract water reflections.
