Acerca del libro
Mi Salvador is a photographic description of El Salvador. Before the civil war A. J. Zelada was born in El Salvador. He left at the age of 5 after the death of his American mother. He returned as an adult and over a decade of multiple trips connected to his birth land, the people, and the remembrance of his childhood. Traveling by bike, bus, and cars in all directions within El Salvador, he photographed these reacquainted landscapes and people. The book contains not only his images but also letters from his mother to her parents as a new emigrant to El Salvador but also a few of her 1950’s images as she saw her fresh new world. The story telling is in his writing and her letters revealing each journey on discovering El Salvador. This is a different view of El Salvador about personal discovery that does not hinge on war, poverty, and violence. The view is up-close, personal and day to day from each traveler’s perspective.
