This a photo journal of a pack trip to the Chilcotin in 2009 which took Dave Arkell, Jim McGregor , Alex Wales and the author over the Spectrum Pass and on to Dorothy Lake. This lake must be one of the most remote and pristine lakes left in the Chilcotin Area. The shoreline was formed of a gravel hardpack that allowed travel by horseback along a good length of it in the water on the shoreline to avoid a large area of blowdown that would have slowed the horseback travels considerably. The trail to and from Dorothy Lake is sketchy at best and not well travelled in the last several years, or ever. Despite the fires in British Columbia in the summer of 2009, mid August found the area wet and cool.

What a spectacular country we have at our doorstep !

Thanks to Alex, Dave and especially Jim for finding our way around Dorothy Lake when, at the time, the options certainly appeared limited.

Another spectacular trip !

Susan is a veterinarian with a special interest and training in acupuncture and chiropractics as well as the mother of two amazing children , Marty and Jessica . She has no formal training in photography but likes to spend time behind the camera when she is not working in the family veterinary practice she shares with her veterinarian husband Alex and veterinarian daughter. The rest of her spare time revolves around show jumping her homegrown warmbloods, hiking endlessly with her whippet pack, snowboarding, travelling, packing in the Chilcotin , trail riding with friends and gardening . The family veterinary practice is located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of BC on their farm with small animal offices in the nearby center of town.
