In my book titled Home: Photographs of the American Midwest, I capture the areas surrounding my hometown and current residence in the greater Chicago area. I attempt to uncover the essence of home through photographing vacant street corners, desolate spaces, and the four walls that surround me. This essence is transient, but found everywhere—it is a feeling, a structure, and an experience.
