Dr. Mani M Mani became Medical Director of the Gene and Barbara Burnett Burn Center at the Univ. of Kansas Medical Center in 1974 which he ran until his retirement. After retirement, he established the Robinson International Studies Award at KUMC for students in multiple disciplines to have an international educational experience at the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. To complete the cross-cultural training, Dr. Mani also established the Modale Fellowship Program for junior faculty from the Christian Medical College to conduct research projects at KUMC. He loved teaching and continued to teach medical students at KU after retirement. He was active in the Boy Scouts, earning the President's Award in India. Above all was his love of family. He had an expansive view of family embracing everyone from friends, colleagues, students, patients, neighbors or acquaintances as part of his extended family.
