Acerca del libro
This is a true artist-made book. In 1974, as a novice cyclist riding the gently rolling hills and flat lands of Northern Florida, photographer Ted Wathen decided to do something truly monumental on a bicycle: Ride from Canada to Mexico along the Continental Divide. This is the story of Wathen’s trip: how he made the decision to do it, how he outfitted himself, and the experience of riding solo 2500 miles in five weeks, crossing the Divide multiple times spending under $100. Wathen is reputed to have been the first to do the Canada to Mexico Continental Divide route. Ride the Divide 1974 is lavishly Illustrated with Wathen’s photographs and maps.
Wathen is a nationally collected and exhibited photographer whose work is in numerous collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the George Eastman Museum. He’s a life-long cyclist, an avid Ohio River sailor, and is currently the Project Director of the Kentucky Documentary Photographic Project.
