I am Patrícia Melo. I am a Brazilian artist based in Ireland. I currently live and work in the most beautiful place in the world in Connemara, in the West of Ireland. Beauty is everywhere where I live and it is, of course, also present in my art - perhaps not always in a very conventional way!
I love telling stories in my work and I use performance, drawing and printmaking as my favourite mediums.
My work is often about ordinary things from the perspective of creatures struggling in a strange world. In an often very simplistic and absurd way, I explore the pains and the pleasures of being 'out of this world'.
My work is simple, colourful and humorous which makes it at the same time enticing but unfamiliar to the spectator.
