From 1972-2015, I lived in Massachusetts. However, I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. My father loved to take photos, so I suppose one could say I inherited his interest in photography. However, other than having a camera for vacations and special occasions, it wasn’t until I retired in 2005 and I received a Canon Digital SLR as a retirement present that my interest in photography exploded. My first photos were of flowers in my own garden, on Plum Island in MA, and on my annual trip to Cape Hatteras, NC where I took as many pictures as I could of shore birds. So through photography I began to see the places I already loved in a new way.

In retirement, I was a photographer for several community-based non-profits and my church. Through this work, my eyes were opened to new subjects for photography, but nature photography continues to be my primary interest.

Before moving to Cincinnati, OH in 2015, I began doing what one might call photographic memoirs.
