Born in Iceland and raised in Hawaii, Bensko's photography and articles have been published nationally. Her most personal project to date has been the photo introspective for The Tempered Steel Organization "Honoring the Wounds of War" that unveiled at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and she was the subject of the FOX News Emmy winning segment on her work with wounded warriors.

Bensko currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, four children, a very short dog named Reggie, and a crabbit named Blue. She is a cross between a cow and a rabbit.
