In the 86th year of a life well lived, the author recorded the memoirs of his life. Born just before his family was forced off their Oklahoma ranch at the beginning of the Great Depression, he spent his childhood traveling around Washington and Idaho while his father took whatever work was available.

This memoir is preceded by details of family history stretching to Elizabethan England, and encompassing Colonial America, the Salem witch hysteria, the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, as well as World War II and the author's service in the Korean War. While a story of specific fathers and sons, it is at the same time the story of us all.
