The Purus, the crookedest River in the world, is - along with the Juruá - considered to be the poorest river in the Amazon region.



This book is based on a one month trip done by one of the Brazilian Navy hospital ships while she took medical assistance to the population affected by the 2009 floods, the worst flood in the previous 60 years.



The book has a text part (a version of the text was published by Revista Época, Brazil's 2nd biggest weekly magazine in January, 2011), and 3 photo parts divided as:
