Acerca del libro
Alone with my house plant
I am alone with my house plant
I usually talk to it with glee,
But today it talked back...
The trouble with this is clear to see.
Have I lost mind mind?
Have I gone off the deep end?
The answers aren’t clear.
Is my house plant is my only friend?
So my plant imparted to me
Some wisdom that I needed to hear.
So strange that it came from my plant
So profound, it brought a tear.
My plant began the tirade
That I speak,
And I should warn you
This wisdom is not for the weak.
My plant said to me,
After I passed over my initial shock,
That I have the social life of
A moderately well-polished rock.
It said I was a fool
To be talking to a botanical being
And the truth of the matter,
I was not clearly seeing.
I ought to be out with creatures
Of my own species and genus...
You know the male sort,
The ones with the...
Deeper voices.
To which I replied,
"Give me a break...
They are mostly not good company,
Are selfish and
Should jump in a cold lake."
"Yes,"
My plant began to reply,
"But you are alone here with me
And that would make
most normal people cry."
"You need to venture out,
Away from me," said the chatty leafy being,
"Go on a trip!
Why not try skiing?"
Annoyed I became
With my chlorophyll filled friend,
I don't like to ski.
And I think this conversation will soon end.
My sprouted crony had one last go,
At telling me what is was
I should know.
It said to me some famous words
The likes of which you never heard...
My house plant said,
”I am a plant
You are not.
This is one more thing
Over me you have got…
And here is my advice,
The answer to the questions you seek,
You should never listen to a plant,
Especially one that can speak."
